➳ The Indian village of Fort Wapiti in Zalasowa near Tarnów presents the unique culture and art of the Indians before and after the arrival of white people on the American continent.

➳ What makes us different from other places of this type?

Well, the collection of Indian handicrafts collected for 20 years: richly decorated outfits - dresses, war shirts, plumes, moccasins, leggings, musical instruments - drums, rattles, Indian flute, weapons - bows, tomahawks, clubs, colts, winchester, Kentucky black powder shotgun, as well as everyday items - sacred, travel, personal bags and many more.

All items are replicas or originals, made of natural materials, used by the Indians in the 19th century, such as: treated or raw hides of deer, bison, wood, shells, feathers, are decorated with glass beads or spikes of the urson needle animal, which they used long before the arrival of white people.

➳ How did you manage to assemble this type of collection ?

For 20 years, we went to meetings of Polish Indian lovers and to international festivals of Indian song and dance called Pow Wow. We had and still have contacts with Indians from the Blackfoot, Lakota and Cheyenne tribes. All these trips and meetings allowed us to gain knowledge about handicrafts, as well as acquire original exhibits. Currently, we are still making replicas, according to the knowledge and guidance given to us, among others, by the Indians themselves.

➳ The Fort Wapiti open-air museum is located in a picturesque area, and in itself is a lookout point. The village is surrounded by the hills of the Brzanka and Liwocz Ranges Landscape Park on one side, and Kokocz on the other. The Ciężkowice foothills, because that is the name of the country, have an irresistible charm.

➳ The Indian Village in Zalasowa offers an educational and entertainment program for school, kindergarten and colony groups.
